Sometimes Going Blind into Films is the Way to Go

Within the entertainment industry, there are a lot of films that constantly.  So, sometimes it can be challenging to stay up to date on films.  Usually, there’s a synopsis in the previews or even in the description of the film.  The synopsis can make or break a film in order for an audience member to see that movie.  However, what happens when you go in completely blind?

Honestly, I do this from time to time.  I see a film on the AMC app or wherever and go “huh that looks interesting”.  I do this when I want to be surprised or if the film industry is going through a dry spell of films.  So, I went on AMC’s app since that’s my go to app for movie theaters.  There was one film that caught my eye.

One of the awesome things about AMC is that they show Hindi films.  These films range from dramas to comedy pieces to musicals.  However, Hindi films at least at my AMC are harder to go to since they’re either during the day, super late at night, or sometimes not at all.  However, there was one film that caught my eye.  This film is named Alpha.

Essentially, Alpha follows a girl named Sita who is raised to be a ruthless killer as a part of the top-secret military program, Alpha. To be honest, Alpha was a stretch out of the typical genres I watch. However, I thoroughly enjoyed Alpha and actually really enjoyed it.  So, what about Alpha that makes this film so enjoyable and different from other films of this genre? Let’s find out together.  In this episode of Sparky Review, we’re going to analyze the film, Alpha.

Alpha Breaks The Typical Viewpoint of an Assassin Film By Keeping Audiences Engaged

So, what is it about Alpha that makes this film so enjoyable? Well for one, the story.  When Alpha first starts, the audience is given a perspective.  Then, the story shares a bit of information that wasn’t previously known. Alpha has an incredibly engaging story.

With the exception of one point, there wasn’t a point where I didn’t know where the plot was going.  To be honest, I like it when films do this and what I wish more films would do.  A lot of the story is shown in the trailer of the film.  Which if done incorrectly can spoil the entire story.  Luckily, Alpha does not do this.

The reveal points in the story is shared through dialogue in addition to action scenes.  So, Alpha not only balances dialogue character development but also action character development. Even with the Alpha program, the program is shrouded in mystery.  So, there isn’t a point in the film where the audience truly notices what is going on which brings out the strength of the film.  While Alpha has an incredible fun story, this film also has a strong cast of characters.

Alpha Brings a Plethora of Fun and Diverse Characters

While the story is incredibly strong and fun, the characters are the true shine of Alpha.  Like I stated previously, Alpha follows a woman named Sita as she grows and becomes a killer as apart of a top-secret military program named Alpha.

Sita is a hardened character due to her upbringing and her exposure to killing at a young age.   However, the audience can tell that there’s another underlining level of her character.  She’s a killing machine but she does have emotions that make her human.  Which is what makes Alpha such a powerful film.

As the story progresses, there are more characters that become apparent to the story.  Alpha is definitely a character driven story.  Essentially, a character driven story means that the characters are the ones driving the story forward.  With this level of storytelling, this means that the characters are going to be much more relatable in addition to being more fleshed out.

From what I’ve been explaining, it doesn’t look like I’m explaining a lot of the characters.  However, if I talk more about it, this will spoil key elements of the story.  So, this review is definitely a lot more reserved than my typical film reviews.

With that said, one of the things that I adore about Alpha is the wide range of characters.  There wasn’t a particular character that fell out of place.  Everyone holds their own strengths, weaknesses, and gets their own character development.

Discussion about Alpha

Honestly, Alpha is a fantastic film.  I would encourage anyone who is a fan of action films and a film with incredible characters and story.  Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Alpha is nominated and wins awards this year.

If you have seen Alpha, what do you think about it? Feel free to let me know in the comments what you think about it? I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Also, if you’d like to watch Alpha, here are the theaters for international viewers and theaters in India who are playing Alpha.  However, I’m sure that those of you who do live in India already know about this film since Yash Raj Films is incredibly popular.  Feel free to follow the links to find a theater near you that is showing this film.
