Mobile Games Offer a Wide Variety

I have a question. What is the first thing that comes to mind when I say mobile game? I’m sure maybe some of you thought Candy Crush or Pokémon Go or maybe even Infinity Nikki. Regardless of what you thought of, mobile games have significantly improved over the last few years.

With the rise of more powerful mobile devices, it’s no wonder that mobile games have developed as well. There’s one particular game that came to my mind and has been taking the mobile gaming world by storm. This game is none other than Infold’s newest game, Love and Deepspace.

Now, before people abandon ship at the even mention of this game and before people call me a weirdo, let me explain. Back in June, I finally took the leap into Love and Deepspace. My reasoning was the game was gaining a lot of attention. I have been following a few content creators including Emirichu and Lexyttv who had peaked my interest in the game.

At the point of me making this review, Lexy no longer plays Love and Deepspace, nor does she discuss it in her streams. However, I wanted to share her page since she was one of the people I got into this game. I support her decision to move away from Love and Deepspace.

So, I decided to jump into the world of Love and Deepspace. It has now been almost four months since I joined the game, and I’m just as invested as I was in June. Why is this game so addictive? What is pulling me in? Let’s talk about it.

Grab your diamonds and hold on to your love interest because in this episode of Sparky Reviews, we’re going to be discussing the ever-growing international otome game, Love and Deepspace.

The Love Interests Are the True Gem of the Game

Now, I know some people are wondering “What is an otome game”? Simply put, an otome game is a game where you, the protagonist, are a female and there are a group of men who all want to pursue you romantically. So, Love and Deepspace is an otome game.

The player also known as MC (main character) constantly interacts with five different guys that all help her gain some more memories about her past. These five guys include Xavier, Rafayel, Sylus, Zayne, and Caleb.

Now, I know that some people are going to say, “Oh well, this is just a game for women to be weird with pixel characters”. Honestly, no it’s not.

These characters are so incredibly written that they literally jump off the page, or phone for that matter. Each one of them brings dynamic, buildup, spice, conflict, and even drama. The way that each of the cards or memories are created is done with purpose to progress your story along. In addition, there’s no limit to who you can romance.

Unlike some romance-filled games, Love and Deepspace doesn’t block the player out from pursuing other romance options. In fact, the game encourages the player to explore the story and development between MC and each of the guys. True, the game does cater more towards women as an otome. However, this shouldn’t exclude anyone from fully embracing Love and Deepspace.

In fact, Love and Deepspace has a huge community of non-binary and even men who play this game. Love and Deepspace offers something for everyone and has the internal power to assist the story along.

Love and Deepspace is Very Powerful for a Mobile Game

One of the charming things about this game is the switch from cinematic to soft animation. When interacting with the guys, soft music fills the background with an incredibly colorful background, then the character you’re talking to. Infold pays no expense to ensure that each character has their own color pallet, song motif, and individuality in their memories.

This is even more apparent in special memory cards called myths where the player and the love interest has met each other in a past life. Currently, there’s a myth event going on with Zayne. The amount of detail that is shown with the character design and even the myth cards themselves is truly astonishing. The fact that this can be done on a mobile device truly shows how much not only power Love and Deepspace is willing to show but how much more other games can do.

This difference that is shown between the different guys gives them individuality. I do think that the transition from cinematic from regular conversational scenes is done in a way that’s not too jarring.

For instance, this picture that I took from my game is a scene from a memory card of Sylus that I have. If I had the ability to, I would have captured this moment in a video format. However, generally, this is how memories are shown. Sometimes, they do include an interaction that the player will have to do in order to progress the story forward. With this style of gameplay, this would be considered a graphic novel. With that, players can rejoice as this game has a colorful cast of voice actors.

Now, the voice actors of the main five love interests haven’t been released to the public. Which to be perfectly honest, I’m okay with. This allows the artists to remain anonymous, and it also keeps their privacy safe.

With the inclusion of soft backgrounds, music, and incredible voice acting, it’s no wonder why players feel like they can escape reality for just a second. Then combined the incredible cinematic masterpieces, it’s no wonder why this game has been receiving so much recognition. Romance cinematics aren’t the only thing that has been gaining attention. The battle mechanics in this game have been raising eyebrows.

Battling Mechanics Not Expected in an Otome Game

Yep. You saw that right. This game about you trying to discover your memories and fall in love with men has combat in addition to battle mechanics. Some of the battle mini games players can play include Core Hunt, Abyssal Chaos, Hunter Contest, Deepspace Trial, and Bounty Hunt. Each one of these areas is where players can gain diamonds and experience. I’ll explain in the next section what you can use your diamonds for.

I’m not going to lie, I was not expecting this game to have combat. However, as I begrudging played through the combat, there is a point to this. Within the story and without spoiling, you learn that the player is a Deepspace Hunter who essentially stops creatures called wanderers from causing panic, destruction, and mayhem. While learning your character, you learn that the guys you want to romance all have their own abilities.

With this knowledge, you can use this to build formattable teams to defeat wanderers that the game prepares. Surprisingly, these fights are incredibly challenging with requires the player to have strategy in addition to ensure your memories are leveled up.

As you can see from my go to team in my game, up in the upper right corner, it’ll show you the recommended level to pursue the wanderer you’re trying to fight. Then you include the memories that are strong enough to take on that fight. Sometimes, they will require a certain amount of color cards. So, this strategy is to encourage players to level up all of their cards.

While some people might look at the battle mechanic and think, “I don’t care about this. I want to date these guys”. You will receive special conversations if you complete the battle sequences with a particular guy. So, don’t shove this to the side if you want extra content.

Love and Deepspace is a Gotcha Game with Free to Play Elements For Both Types of Players

To be honest, Love and Deepspace is a gotcha game. It gives you the option to use real money to pull for memory cards. While this is an option a lot of people use, many free to play players constantly save up their diamonds. Remember, when I discussed leveling up memory cards for fights? When a player uses experience known as bottles of wishes, these can be used to make your memories stronger. As a reward, players are awarded either diamonds or empyrean wish tickets.

Please ignore my diamonds, the new Zayne myth card has destroyed my stash. RIP all of my diamonds… Anyway, Empyrean wish tickets are used for memories that players can experience again if the players are new or don’t have that particular memory. There are some event memories that are no longer available through empyrean wish tickets unless Infold does a rerelease of a memory banner which does happen from time to time.

Another way that players can get diamonds is through completing quests for each of the love interests. Getting closer to each of them will unlock diamonds and other goodies for both free to play and those who wish to use their own money into the game. Please, do remember to be responsible with your money. This game will make it so you want to spend money. However, truth be told, you don’t have to if you don’t have the means to. This decision is up to each individual player on how they wish to play Love and Deepspace.

Which is why one of many reasons why I love this game is the ability to choose. Yes, there are some cosmetics and certain things that you will have to decide if you want to spend money. With that, it’s not mandatory to enjoy the game. At first, it might seem like you have to spend all of your money but in reality, you can pick and choose which banners you want to pull for.

Love and Deepspace is a Beautiful, Masterpiece Game that Will Drag Players In

So, it’s safe to say that Love and Deepspace is a game that I adore. It’s a beautiful love story with dynamic, buildup, spice, conflict, and drama. If what I said within this review resonates with you in anyway, please go check it out. Love and Deepspace is on iOS 12.0 or later and is also on Google play for android.

If this doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay. This game isn’t for everyone liking. However, I feel that this game should be discussed. Have you had the chance to play this game? Feel free to let me know what you think about this game. If you’re into Love and Deepspace, who is your favorite love interest? Let’s discuss this.

Thank you so much for reading this review. I will include Love and Deepspace’s social media accounts. This includes Love and Deepspace’s Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Discord, X, Spotify, and website.
